A former apprentice barista has ‘bean’ busy teaching his coffee secrets to a leading Midlands law firm ahead of their charity coffee morning.
Now a fully qualified barista, George Whiley is passing on his caffeine skills and tricks of the trade to help Wright Hassall make the perfect cup of coffee and raise money for the Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday, September 27.
George, who was awarded Apprentice of the Year at the college in Leamington, perfected the art of coffee-making during his hospitality and catering course at Warwickshire College (WCG) before graduating and working full time at Farmers’ Fayre, Stoneleigh Park.
Staff at Wright Hassall will put their new coffee skills into practice at the upcoming coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan alongside their bake-off cake competition.
George said: “I’ve been working hard to perfect my coffee skills during my time on the catering course at WCG and now I’m putting those skills to the test behind the counter at Farmers’ Fayre.
“I worked as an apprentice at Farmers’ Fayre while completing the course and now that I’ve graduated and working here full-time, I’m really enjoying getting to practise and now even having a go at teaching!
“It was a real privilege to be able to pass on my knowledge and help with a good cause; I hope Wright Hassall’s staff are able to smash their fundraising targets by putting their new barista skills to good use and enjoying the top-notch cups of coffee on offer. .”
Lorna Payne, Associate Solicitor in Wright Hassall’s private client team, said: “It’s great that George is able to give us some insight into the art of coffee-making in advance of our coffee morning.
“We’re hoping that at this year’s coffee morning we can raise our biggest amount yet for a good cause – and we’re already practising our baking skills for our bake-off competition!
“We’d like to thank George for passing on his skills to make our coffee morning a success and we’re looking forward to tasting all the delicious caffeine creations when we put these new skills into action.”
Wright Hassall, which has recently been nominated for Solicitor Firm of the Year (Midlands) at the British Wills and Probate Awards, will be inviting over 300 members of staff to sample the treats at the coffee morning.
