We advised a leading engineering research and development business in connection with proceedings in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court against a professional sports team which had sought to exploit the client’s patented technology without licence terms.
This matter was introduced to us by the client's patent attorney. The case was important to the client to protect its valuable intellectual property from unauthorised use by the defendant and to protect its wider commercial value, given that other third parties were licensing the technology and unauthorised use presented a real risk of undermining the licensing regime in place. We prepared Statements of Case and advised on strategy.
The case was settled on satisfactory confidential terms after Statements of Case were settled.
