A leading Leamington law firm has presented a bumper donation to a Warwickshire school which is raising funds to revamp its outdoor playground space.
Wright Hassall has donated £1,000 to The Friends of Ferncumbe – the official charity of The Ferncumbe C of E Primary School, in Warwick.
The donation was made in support of the school’s fundraising drive to raise £19,000 to enhance its outdoor space, including the creation of a dedicated nature corner and installing a Viking long boat for role pay, outdoor gym equipment which will be accessible in all weather conditions and additional seating.
The school is looking to provide a more inclusive and engaging space for children and to provide greater choice at break times, while also supporting teachers to facilitate learning sessions outside of the classroom.
It is hoped that the new apparatus will support imaginative play, physical activity and the health and wellbeing of pupils.
The donation was made through the Wright Hassall Charitable Trust which aims to make a difference in the wider community by supporting local charities, and raises funds through various sponsored initiatives throughout the year.
A total of £12,625 has now been raised for the project, and it is hoped that the grand total will be reached by the end of the academic year so that the new equipment can be installed during the summer break.
Dani Coe, Chair of The Friends of Ferncumbe, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Wright Hassall for making this donation through the firm’s charitable trust.
“We are a small school with 180 pupils and this is one of the largest fundraising projects we have undertaken. The support we’ve received from the local business community has been absolutely fantastic.
“The children have also been getting actively involved with fundraising activities. The Friends of Ferncumbe provided the children with a raisin box and the children were tasked to undertake jobs at home and in the local community and return their raisin box full of loose change. They helped raise an amazing £377.
“Our new equipment will not only support the health and wellbeing of the children, but also enable teachers to take learning into the playground to provide more enriching experiences as well as support children with additional needs.
“We still have a way to go to achieve our fundraising goal and we’d welcome further donations. Please visit our website and JustGiving page or get in touch directly.”
Alex Robinson, of Wright Hassall, said: “We were extremely pleased to present £1,000 to The Friends of Ferncombe to help fund such a brilliant project.
“The Wright Hassall Charitable Trust was established with the aim of supporting local charities which make a difference right across our community.
“It is fantastic to support a project which will benefit young people – some of which may well become the next generation of legal professionals! It was great to visit the school recently and see the space we have helped support. We can’t wait to hear and see more about the project as it progresses.”
