Ben McCosker
Ben is a Senior Associate and a Solicitor Advocate within the Property Litigation team at Wright Hassall, working predominantly on commercial property matters.
About Ben
Ben assists and advises on Property matters, mainly within a commercial context including landlord and tenant and, where appropriate, conducts litigation for claimants and defendants. He also does this in a commercial contract, public law and information-privacy law context.

Experience
Previously Ben has:
- Successfully settled proceedings for alleged breach of repairing covenant
- Successfully conducted multiple claims for possession, including having made use of the interim possession order procedure (IPO)
- Successfully defended adverse possession claims, including having conducted the advocacy at a fast-track trial of such a matter
- Successfully defended statutory review claims in opposition of Compulsory Purchase Orders
- Successfully settled an alleged multi-million-pound claim under a demolition and construction funding agreement on behalf of a defendant client, for £0
Ben makes it his job not just to know the law, but to understanding how it applies to the client’s case and then using that to obtain the best obtainable solution in the circumstances, always bearing in mind the commercial realities of the client’s situation.
Career
Ben graduated from Birmingham City University with a 2:1 LLB (hons) in law degree in 2007. He was subsequently called to the Bar in 2009 following completion of the Bar Vocation Course, having originally trained to become a barrister.
He subsequently cross-qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and in 2023 obtained his Higher Rights of Audience, in civil proceedings.
