Jennifer is a Senior Associate in our Commercial Litigation Team dealing with professional negligence claims, defamation, malicious falsehood and harassment claims, insurance related disputes and costs related issues.
About Jennifer
Jennifer advises individuals and businesses on a range of litigation issues.
She has particular expertise in professional negligence claims and represents clients regularly in claims, particularly against solicitors.
Jennifer also has expertise in defamation, malicious falsehood and harassment claims and represents clients both in bringing and defending these types of claims.
She also advises and acts for clients in relation to insurance related disputes including making complaints to the Financial Services Ombudsman and making claims for compensation to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Jennifer also advises clients on issues relating to costs and funding including cost budgeting, detailed assessment and solicitor/client cost proceedings.

Experience
Professional Negligence:
- Acting for various clients against various firms of solicitors who represented them in connection with the purchase of off-plan buyer funded developments which failed to complete resulting in the clients losing significant deposits. Successfully settling the claims in our clients’ favour prior to the issue of Court proceedings.
- Acting for a client in respect of a claim against a firm of solicitors whose actions resulted in the client’s personal injury claim being struck out. Successfully settled the claim in the client’s favour prior to the issue of Court proceedings.
- Acting for multiple clients in connection with a claim against a firm of solicitors who represented them in the sale of their respective shareholding. Successfully settling the claim following the issue of Court proceedings.
- Acting for two clients in respect of a claim against a firm of solicitors who were instructed to deal with the sale and purchase of industrial units. Successfully resolved the claim in favour of our clients following the issue of Court proceedings.
Defamation, Malicious Falsehood & Harassment:
- J B Robinson And Son Limited v (1) Martin Gadd (2) Joanna Gadd – acting for the Defendants in defending claims of defamation, malicious falsehood and harassment in connection with 11 publications. Resolved the claim shortly before trial with the Claimant discontinuing the proceedings.
- Neil Reidy v Bridgestone Europe NV/SA – acting for the Defendant in defending claims of defamation, vicarious liability and negligence. Successfully obtaining an order striking out the Claimant’s claim and an order for costs.
- Ramachandran Srinivasan v (1) TATA Technologies (Europe) Limited (2) Jaguar Land Rover Limited [2021] EWHC 602 (QB) – acting for the Defendants in defending a claim of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. Successfully defending the claim and obtaining an order for costs against the Claimant.
- Al-Ko Kober Limited & 1 Other v Balvinder Sambhi [2018] EWHC 165 (QB) – acting for the Claimants in a claim for defamation and malicious falsehood seeking remedies, including an injunction, against the Defendant for publishing various videos on his YouTube channel. Successfully obtained Judgment, a permanent injunction and costs against the Defendant.
Costs & Funding:
- Advising a client on recovering an After the Event (ATE) insurance premium which had been left in abeyance for 5 years by the client’s previous solicitors following proceedings being issued by the ATE insurer. The full amount of the ATE premium was successfully recovered for the client. Separately, successfully settling the proceedings brought by the ATE insurer.
Insurance:
- Representing multiple clients in connection with a dispute with an insurer following multiple defects being discovered in properties they purchased.
- Representing a client in connection with a dispute with an insurer following a fire at the client’s premises.
- Assisting various clients with making claims for compensation via the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
- Assisting various clients with making complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Career
Jennifer had a successful career as a personal assistant prior to choosing to go back into education to study law. Jennifer joined Wright Hassall LLP in 2008 as a Legal Secretary in the Commercial Litigation team and has progressed her career to Senior Associate whilst working here.
Jennifer is also a Trustee of the Wright Hassall Charitable Trust, and a Mental Health First Aider accredited by MHFA England.
Interests
Outside work Jennifer enjoys watching sport, particularly Rugby Union and is a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers. Jennifer also enjoys listening to music, reading and travelling.
