Working at Wright Hassall
Flexible working mission statement
We see lots of organisations offering ‘flexible’ working arrangements, yet they are restricting their people to fixed rules and commitments - such as only allowing home working 40 or 50 per cent of the time or insisting on working core hours each day. This isn’t for us as we feel this doesn’t mirror the reality of life or how businesses will grow in the future. We do recognise however that not all roles can be carried out from home and these principles do not apply to every role.
We aren’t creating policies for the sake of it and it’s not our culture to enforce rules or restrictions – our people told us they wanted flexibility to help balance work/home balance, but they also wanted some guidance as to what this means to avoid uncertainty or inconsistencies, so we created the ‘Hybrid Work principles’. We have gone beyond the minimum statutory requirements to push the boundaries and enhance the culture around flexible working. We believe that a mixture of working remotely and working in the office provides a strong balance between flexibility and being able to liaise and learn from colleagues. How this works is determined in discussions between managers and employees, as we know that ‘one size doesn’t fit all’!
Time and time again our people tell us they feel engaged, trusted and motivated by our offering of flexibility. They feel committed to their work during the day and committed to their family time in the evening and weekends.
We want our people to have a true-life balance, where they have the confidence and accountability for their own time, career, and where they work, while keeping clients, colleagues and team needs fulfilled. We recognise that empowering and trusting people is the best motivation, and our positive work culture is already attracting top talent from across the UK as this is simply ‘how we work’.
Our values
Our core values form the foundations on which our business is built and go to the very heart of who we are. They are proactively implemented across the entire firm, known by all our employees and referred to throughout all our decision-making processes. They do not simply live on a piece of paper – they live in all that we say, and do, and define how we interact with each other, our clients and the community in which we operate.
We call them our FAIR values and they are as follows:
FLEXIBLE
We anticipate, adapt and respond positively to the diverse needs of our clients and each other.
AMBITIOUS
We are motivated and driven to succeed in our vision.
INCLUSIVE
We are focused on collective success.
RESPECTFUL
We earn the confidence and trust of others through our actions and by valuing each other.
